Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline

Checking Pipeline depthThompson Conn was a major partner in Terratech Consultants Inc., a consortium of five Maritime survey firms providing surveying services for Maritime & Northeast Pipeline’s natural gas mainline from Goldboro, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia through to the New Brunswick – Maine border, as well as lateral lines into Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John, New Brunswick.  Terratech successfully completed all aspects of survey work from establishing a solid control network, cutting several hundred kilometers of line, determining legal boundaries through to construction and the preparation of legal plans for easement acquisition.

Ken Whalen, a Partner with Thompson Conn, was responsible for a majority of the legal surveys required to obtain the necessary easements through Nova Scotia. Ken managed the many field crews, office staff and supervisors for the survey portion of the mainline from Goldboro to Moncton during the construction phase.

Ken also managed the survey of the lateral from the M&NP Mainline to Amherst, Nova Scotia for Heritage Gas.
