Deformation Monitoring
Deformation Monitoring is the process of measuring points or surfaces with the use of Total Stations or Scanning Survey Instruments. These measurements are then compared with previous measurement sets to determine movement of the structure. Structures monitored include retaining walls, bridges, columns, foundations, expansion joints and piers.
Thompson Conn has carried out deformation monitoring surveys at the Canadian Gypsum Wharf in Little Narrows, Cape Breton, the wall at the Halifax Parade Square, the exterior face of the Ralston Building in Halifax and the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge cable bent pier base.
